Committee services
Sue has acted as rapporteur for stakeholder workshops, such as those on boat-based whale-watching and shark cage-diving, as well as numerous scientific meetings.
For some years she was contracted to provide comprehensive minutes from technical advisory group meetings of the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem (BCLME) Programme, and of steering committee meetings of projects funded by the Water Research Commission.
This exposure to a diverse range of topics increased her knowledge of marine and freshwater issues considerably.
She also acted as minutes secretary while a forum member for six Catchment Management Forums set up by the Cape Metropolitan Council.
As part of her functions as Estuary Management Coordinator in the Overstrand area, she served as the secretariat for two estuary forums in which she played an active role. She organised the meetings, maintained distribution lists and made detailed minutes available to all interested parties through the Overstrand Estuaries website she developed.
In 2017, she wrote the proceedings reports for the Water Research Commission Conference, the South African Maritime Industry Conference and the Large Marine Ecosystems International Partnerships meeting.
