Sue did freelance work for the Global Invasive Species Programme before joining the organisation as Communications Coordinator for GISP’s final year in South Africa in 2006.

The freelance assignments included writing all species profiles for three awareness-raising booklets on the invasive species of Africa, South-east Asia and South America respectively.

Among her activities as Communications Coordinator, she edited a training manual and developed an awareness-raising brochure on the prevention and control of marine and coastal invasive species. She compiled five issues of the GISP biannual newsletter.

In 2000, Sue wrote articles, press releases and ministerial speeches for the Working for Water programme as part of a media liaison contract, and subsequently compiled a brochure series on the integrated control of invasive alien plants.
