Sue was the Estuary Management Coordinator for a three-year contract to June 2013, working at the Overstrand Municipality in Hermanus in a post funded by WWF's Table Mountain Fund.

She conducted various monitoring activities, collated and interpreted data from other sources, provided management advice to the Overstrand Municipality, and gave administrative and technical support to two estuary forums set up to implement estuary management plans.

She shared information and raised awareness of estuary management issues through the website she developed and maintained, as well as articles in local media.

She wrote a number of management reports, including the draft Situation Assessment of the Onrus Estuary.
